Lenders Broaden Access to Interest-Only Mortgages

We’re seeing a clear shift in the mortgage market, with lenders becoming increasingly open to interest-only options and expanding their product ranges to suit a wider variety of borrowers. Nationwide, in particular, has made significant updates to its lending criteria. The lender now accepts a broader range of repayment strategies, including savings, investments, and pension funds.

Nationwide’s updated criteria now allow:

  • Interest-only products up to 75% LTV
  • Part-and-part up to 85% LTV
  • Interest-only options for first-time buyers
  • An extended maximum term of 40 years

HSBC Increases Salary Multiples for Premier Clients

HSBC has recently announced an exciting update to its lending criteria, now offering up to 6.5x income multiples for HSBC Premier customers—a significant increase designed to boost affordability for eligible borrowers. The enhanced multiple is available on loans up to 90% loan-to-value (LTV) and remains subject to standard affordability assessments.

For those who have been exploring mortgage options but just falling short on affordability, it may be worth checking if you’re eligible for an HSBC Premier account, as qualifying could mean access to a higher loan amount and greater flexibility in securing your next home.

Rates Across the Market

Rates are subject to change in line with market fluctuations and depend on your LTV size.
